Alex Morton Welding Contracts
was established in 1976 and carried out a wide
range of steel manufacturing. It operated in
parallel with its associated company "Alex
Morton Contracts", who were involved in
building and civil engineering projects. The
two companies operated on a partnership basis
with shared resources and assets, essentially
operating as two different divisions of the
same company.
In 2000 the Companies became
a Limited Company (Alex Morton Contracts Limited)
with an integrated Steel Manufacturing / Erection
facility and Civil Engineering capability.

To manage and develop in all
or any of the Company's branches the trade and
businesses of builders, building contracts,
subcontractors, civil engineers, public work
contractors, land development, masons, quarries,
engineers, timber merchants, sawyers, concrete
block manufacturers and manufacturers of all
classes of precast concrete, plasterers, brick
makers, decorators, shop fitters, house and
land agents, oil, paint, and varnish merchants,
sanitary equipment merchants, joiners, plumbers,
vendors and agents for building materials and
builder's providers, general agents, general
merchants and to buy, sell, manipulate, prepare
for market, import, export and deal (both wholesale
and retail) in articles, merchandise and commodities
of all kinds which can conveniently be dealt
in by the Company in connection with any of
its objects.

The current levels of resources
has enabled Alex Morton Contracts Ltd to carry
out contracts of up to £ 2.5 million in
value. The company has undertaken a series of
new builds, refurbishments, housing developments
and civil engineering projects throughout Ireland.
These have been completed within the required
time scale and to budget.
Alex Morton Contracts are
registered with Construction Line and the National
House Building Council and operate under their
registration scheme when constructing dwellings
for private clients. The company is also a holder
of an Equal Opportunities Certificate and the
company's Insurance for Employers and Public
Liability extends to cover claims of up to £10
million in value.
The Company can offer a complete
design and build service, if this is required,
to comply with the client's requirements, thereby
providing fast-track construction from the inception
of the project to its completion on site.
The Company is currently included
in several approved Lists of Contractors including
the Ministry Of Defence, The Department Of The
Environment For Northern Ireland Works Service
and The Northern Ireland Works Organisation,
NIE & Amey Business services.
Labour levels vary according
to workload but includes a core workforce of
about 40 people, who provide a flexible skill
base and are available to work at any location.
Additional operatives are recruited from our
database of available sub contractors, as and
when required.
The Company has a specialist
team of coded welders who are qualified to BS4872:
Part1 and BSEN 287.1(1992) and these Qualifications
are continually being updated and renewed as
required. Written welding procedures are available
for most jobs and these comply with BSEN 288.3
(1992).
This capability puts the Company
in a strong position when tendering for the
more specialised welding jobs.
Experienced personnel, dependent
on its nature and complexity, will staff each
contract. The attached family tree indicates
our management, and administration staff. Other
professional support staff are recruited as
required.

Our fleet of plant, which
is owned and maintained by us, includes rubber
tyred and tracked excavators, telescopic forklifts,
vans and lorries as well as various items of
portable plant. Other specialist equipment is
hired as and when required.
Our workshop extends to over
2100m2 and is equipped with four 10 tonne overhead
travelling cranes. A full range of steel working
machines are installed including welding, burning,
sawing, guillotine and universal steel working
machines.
There is also an outside storage
area and a modern office facility.
The office is equipped with
a modern computer system and a 'state of the
art' X-steel and Strucad drafting system, with
an 'in house' design capability.

We are committed to a Health
& Safety Policy in line with the requirements
of current legislation and have an 'in house'
capability of producing and monitoring the Health
and Safety requirements for a complete project
from inception to completion.
We are very proud of our safety
record and make all our employees safety conscious
through continuing awareness-training programs.
All our staff and sub contractors
have undertaken a CSR Health and Safety program
through an external nominated training organization.
This included Special Skills Training for Equipment
Operators.
The Company has been successful
in achieving SAFE - T - CERT accreditation.
